The only blush palette you will ever need : Benefit Cheekathon

Hey Internet Friends,

I have a confession, an admittance if you will. Ive fallen in love. A special kind of love. Make up Love. I also have a secret for you my loyal readers, I have found the blush palette to end all blush palettes. I showed it you last week, in my London Haul but I tend to write blog posts for this site well in advance, I have actually had the Benefit Cheekathon for a whole month so its time for a little review. You ready?

DSC06595

Benefits new cheekathon palette is the dream team of blushes and bronzers combined in the most beautiful, value for money and special palette I have ever seen. And you probably like me have never heard of it before.
At the weekend I was at my local Benefit counter and the women working there hadn’t even heard of it. So I am going to tell you everything you need to know about why you should 100% buy this product.

Firstly lets start by explaining why its such good value for money.
One blush or bronzer box from Benefit is £23.50.
This palette is £44.50 and you get 5 blushes and bronzers.
Now I know what your thinking, but there not full size products?
But the amazing thing is they are!
For less than the price of two Box O Powders you can have 5?

YES! YES YOU CAN!

DSC06606

So why should you buy it?
The shades flatter pretty much any skin tone, I am deadly pale as you all know and I can easily wear every shade.
Lets have a shade breakdown shall we:
Dandelion is a sheer pink tone that makes for a pretty everyday blush, this doesnt have to much shimmer and is super wearable.
Hoola – you guys know this is my holy grail bronzer. The perfect Matte finish thats both build-able and subtle. Perfection.
Rockateur is a rose gold shimmer blush that gives the skin a real flush with insane colour payoff.
Dallas is a blush and bronzer combo that gives your face a flush of colour, this works incredibly well to give definition and warmth.
Coralista is a warm coral blush with a strong shimmer, perfect for the summertime.

DSC06621
From the wrist down – Coralita, Dallas, Rockateur, Holla and Dandelion.

The literal only downside to this palette is the fact that the packaging is absolute enormous. But its just as beautiful as it is big, with Benefit you could to expect beautiful and quality packaging and whilst I appreciate the massive mirror and the brush I will never use it doesnt feel as innovative as some of the other Benefit packaging.

But my faithful ladies and gents, its whats inside that counts!

DSC06611

The brushes I would pair with this palette is the Blush brush which is perfect for both bronzer and blush especially when trying to add definition, I use the expert face brush for popping a bit of blush on the apples of the cheeks and the powder brush for some real smooth blending.

These brushes are the perfect cheekathon palette.

I honestly give the Benefit cheekathon a solid 9/10! It only looses a point because of that annoying brush nobody uses!

Hope you guys enjoyed this post.

LIFE UPDATE: Where have I been?

Hey Internet Friends,

Its been a crazy insane month. Absolutely ridiculous actually. Im in over my head.

I can give you no excuse as to why I haven’t been blogging, it deeply saddens me to not be writing to you every week but I did warn you this may happen.

This month I’ve taken on 3 of the most stressful things you’ll ever do in your life. Start your career, buy a home and plan a wedding. Am I insane? Probably a little bit yes.

These are all super exciting things and honestly I couldn’t be happier but life is a little hectic at the moment. So here are the things I’ve done this month that I think you should know about. Ready?

  1. Started my new job
This job isn’t just a ‘job’, its the beginning of my career. Its a job using my degree and in the UK thats a rare thing at the moment, a lot of university graduates really struggle to get a job in their field and I’m incredibly proud of myself for managing it.
Now I just have to keep it…
  2. I had an offer excepted on a new home
I like many people my age am renting an apartment in the city from a private landlord but that annoys me because this isn’t helping set me up for my future.
So I have taken the plunge into being a homeowner with the help of my parents, I’m moving out of the city which isn’t as convenient and definitely doesn’t have enough decent Thai places. Its very early days and a million things could go wrong, but I’ve got a good feeling about it. Its a start and its a home and thats whats important.
  3. I had my 23rd Birthday and it was amazing! I plan on doing a full post on what I got for my birthday as us blogger types do, but I spent the day with Jay and saw all my family throughout the week which in this mental time was very welcome.
  4. I bought my wedding dress. I say my wedding dress instead of ‘a wedding dress’ because strictly speaking it isnt an actual wedding dress. It wasn’t from a bridal shop and it isnt white but its casual, relaxed and very very me. I wish I could show you and share it with you but unfortunately you have to keep some things a little bit secret!
  5. I’m off to london next weekend which although hasn’t actually happened yet I am very excited. Expect a full post dedicated to it! My mums running the marathon but Im there for an extra two days so I plan on doing lots of shopping – especially at the Lush Oxford Street Store! And my new pad actually has a bath so that means BATHBOMBS

I hope you guys feel a little bit more up to date and I can get back to posting more regularly.

Thanks for understanding.

Current Favourites!

Hey Internet Friends,

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?! Well you beautiful people, as you know if your a loyal reader of this blog Ive started a new job recently and its been a lot more than I bargained for! I am so busy! I love blogging and I love all of you so hopefully things can calm down soon, I am thinking of changing my post day to Sunday so its a bit easier, how would you feel about that?

Today I want to do a quick catch up with all of you and talk about some of the things I have been LOVING recently. Everything from room fragrance to teeth whitening.
You ready?

DSC06316Wax Melts!
Have you guys tried these yet? Absolutely amazing. Imagine your favourite yankee candle just ten times cheaper and much safer!
I absolutely love candles but Im always scared to leave them on overnight or for a really long time. With this amazing electric wax melter you can burn your favourite scent safely and for so much longer.
The burner itself is beautiful ceramic with intricate detail so it doesn’t look out of place in my living room.
The Yankee Wax Melts are also only £1 and last for a few days burning continuously.
Brilliant product, if you haven’t got one already, what are you waiting for?!

DSC06327

Yes to Body Wash!
Amazing amazing amazing!
They come in a variety of different scents but these two are my favourites.
These products are super kind to the skin and leave your entire body feeling silky smooth and squeaky clean.
I don’t know about you, but I like a lot of soap and foam in my body wash and these natural products really pack a punch when it comes to the amount of bubbles. Absolutely divine!
And the smell, where do I even start with the smell! Amazingly luxurious and smell like little soapy smoothies.

DSC06330.jpg

My love for Mac has never been a quiet affair, I practically scream it from the rooftops most of the time but over the past months the drugstore has really been calling out to me.
Unfortunately with my new job where Im out of the house for unto 11 hours a day the drugstore foundation and lipsticks were just not doing the trick, they were leaving my skin patchy and sad.

The Mac Pro Longwear is absolutely brilliant for a long day and looks just as good in the 11th hour then it did in the first especially when you combine it with the Mac Studio Fix powder. The photo below is after 9 hours of wear, pretty impressive right?

I am also loving the Mac lipstick in MEHR MATTE.
Its the perfect shade for the office and it lasts for a super long time, only really coming off when you eat.
Its not an overpowering shade and really would complement any skin tone.

Using Charcoal to whiten teeth.
Now hear me out! I know what your thinking, Charcoals black.
And your right charcoal is black but it does amazing things to remove toxins and staining.
I just take one of the little capsules, mix it with my toothpaste and use it on my teeth.
Easy Peasy!
I then rinse with 1 part Hydrogen Peroxide 6% and 4 parts water.

If you want to hear more about charcoal teeth whitening let me know and I’ll do a full post on it?

Hope you guys enjoyed this current favourites post,

As always leave me links to posts you think I’ll like.

New Job Haul

Hey Internet Friends,

Where have I been?! Well let me tell you my lovely lot, Ive been getting myself a new job! Its in the area that I studied my degree so Im really excited about the opportunity, but I had a bit of a problem, the job Ive had for the past three years has required me to wear a uniform so I needed to get a few more pieces for my wardrobe and other bits and bobs to make me look like an actual grown up. Ive gone with pieces that I can team up with things I already have to look that extra bit nicer!

title

I still have a few more bits and bobs of stationary to get but this is the main bulk of it. I hope this job turns out to be what Im after because its cost me some major £££!

Lets Start with the clothes…

Clothes

I also picked up some black trousers but you all know what black trousers look like….
Oh and a black dress!

I really wanted to do you a cute look book for this post but the weather in Sheffield where I live is absolutely horrendous! And as much as I love all of you Im not willing to stand in the rain for you.

The three tops are from New Look and are very reasonably priced.
All under £30 which is a real bargain for the quality of the pieces.
The coat is a military style fitted coat from Wallis and is absolutely stunning, the lining is satin and it really feels special. This is my favourite pieces that Ive bought recently.

The Shoes…

shoesThe shoes on the left are a beautiful suede fabric with a wooden heel and surprisingly they are very comfortable so hopefully I can cope with wearing them all day. Im usually a Vans and converse kinda girl…
The flats just a more comfortable option for when my feet finally give in and lets be honest on really busy days they might, I may even leave them in office so Ive got my flat ‘security blanket’ shoes on hand.

The Organiser….

organiser

This Organiser is from Paperchase and I’ve never had a proper organiser before so I feel incredibly responsible.
You buy the organiser with a few files already inside but I chose to buy the additional sections of the cute sticky notes, agenda, to do and shopping sections.
I am honestly really happy with this buy and feel it was a real bargain with 50% off from £22 at £11.

And now for the fun stuff, the new Make Up….

DSC06312

New Mac Lipsticks are my favourite new make up things.
This shade is Mehr in the Matte finish and it is beautiful!
I think we shall talk about that in more detail soon if you’d like?

I also grabbed a new Mac Ebony eyeliner because these are the most pigmented long wearing eyeliners EVER and are perfect for tight lining.

The Concealer is my favourite for dark under eye circles which will help with all the eye bags I’m going to have from working all these hours! Its got excellent coverage but if your a BBlogger you probably know that already because EVERYBODY loves it.

The Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter are another little mega star in the bloggersphere recently, I’ve seen a lot of you going crazy about these so I wanted to see what all the fuss is about and I totally get it. Beautiful subtle shine and perfect for any skin tone, what more do you need!

Hope you guys enjoyed this little post about my new job bits and bobs.

Any tips for my first day? They’d be much appreciated!

Spring Nude Nails

Hey Internet Friends,

I think a lot of people go through stages of searching for some kind of Holy Grail product whatever that may be and mine in the run up to spring seems to be the perfect nude nail polish. Don’t ask me why but I think this is going to be a real trend throughout spring as its sophisticated, goes with every outfit and is light enough for the spring weather.

title
I have picked out four of my favourite shades for you and will talk about them all a little bit. The perfect nude nail shade obviously differs based on your skin tone and my complexion is fair to medium so if yours is too maybe these will work for you.

All BottlesFrom Left to Right.
Essie Spin the bottle, Essie Ballet Slippers. Barry M Pink Lemonade and
Seventeen Pick Me Up.

Spin the bottleEssie – Spin The Bottle

This is probably my favourite of the lot as its the perfect balance of a peachy nude but not too pink to feel childish, the finish is everything you’d expect from essie and the coverage is beautiful.
The image shows two coats with no base coat or top coat and as you can see its clearly covered.
This product can be purchased individually or as part of the Essie Nude duo kit.

Ballet SlippersEssie – Ballet Slippers

This could be a little bit too light for some people and more of a white than a nude but if you want a perfectly pure nail colour than this could be for you. I think the coverage and delicacy of this colour is beautiful.
This can also be bought individually or as part of the Nudes Duo from Essie.

DSC05968Barry M Gelly – Pink Lemonade

Barry M is my favourite Nail Polish brand, my collection is extensive and I can promise you that this is the best nude they offer.
It is more of a pinky toned nude but the shine and coverage is insane, its so good.
It will set off any skin tone amazingly and you won’t be disappointed with the longevity.

DSC05975Seventeen – Pick Me Up

This is the lowest price nail polish I have included, retailing at just £1.99 it is absolutely incredible value for money and the colour is possibly perfect.
The only tiny bug bear of the product is the long drying time (half my life, I swear) and the coverage. This is two coats and personally I think it could be better. It wasn’t as rich in colour as the other brands.

BUT for the price its amazing and the colour is divine!

Hope you guys enjoyed this Nude Nail post,

Whats your favourite Nude polish at the moment?

Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette

Hey Internet Friends,

As you’ll know if you saw my last post I was ridiculously excited to try out my new Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette. As an avid fan of the Pixiwoo sisters Sam & Nic and the products they create with Real Techniques so my expectations were incredibly high for this brush cleansing palette.

title
Real Techniques make some bold claims about the brush cleansing palette on the website stating that:
Cleans brushes 55% better.
Great makeup application starts with a clean brush. The brush cleansing palette helps sweep away makeup, oil, and impurities from bristles to give you truer, more consistent color application.
performance-grade silicone: lightweight and ergonomically designed to fit comfortably over your hand
exclusive multi-textured surfaces: designed to gently work between the bristles for enhanced deep cleansing

What Did I Think?
DSC05885.jpg
The first thing I will say is the mixed textured surface works incredibly well for your different brush needs, the smaller bumps work perfectly for getting rid of tough eyeshadows and liner from smaller brushes, the middle raised texture is amazing for stubborn matte foundations and the larger rounded bumps clean powder brushes in seconds!
This actually made my brush cleaning experience pleasurable, as someone who religiously cleans my brushes every single week this can be a difficult thing to enjoy but with this it took me about 15 minutes to clean 22 brushes!
Now thats impressive!

The pliable silicone material makes it comfortable to hold and it doesn’t slip off your hand at all, it also doesn’t have that horrendous plastic smell you’d expect. When you combine this with the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Gel it really did make my brushes feel good as new!

How do you use it?

use
Its the easiest process you could imagine and I bet it isn’t that different to what you already do.
Add a drop of brush cleansing gel onto the palette then some warm water.
Mix the tip of the brush into the gel and water into the palette surface until the brush is fully clean then rinse your brush under warm water.
Gently squeeze an excess water and leave your brush to dry overnight.
Simples!

Don’t take my word for it that its so easy to use, watch Nic from pixiwoo demonstrate it in the video below.

There you have it!
I am so glad I added this product to my Real Techniques collection, now I’ve actually got a reason to be excited to clean my brushes.

Hope you guys enjoyed finding out a bit more about this product,

Have you guys tried the RT brush cleansing palette?

What did you think?

February Haul : High Street & Drugstore.

Hey Internet Friends,

Guess who went shopping for a bunch of stuff they don’t really need but really wanted? ME! I was reasonably well behaved though and only stuck to drug store and high street shops. Points for trying right?

title

Ohhh look at the goodies!
Lets break this down into manageable chunks shall we?

The Palettes
DSC05865
Who doesn’t love a good palette?
On the left is the new Soap & Glory Perfect Ten eyeshadow palette.
Soap & Glory have brought out a few of these perfect ten palettes over the years all with different undertones (a bit like another popular palette range wouldn’t you say?)
This one is super wearable, super affordable and down right beautiful.
It will make a strong edition to my collection.

On the right is the Make Up Revolution Cover & Conceal Palette.
Make Up Revolution are really making waves in the beauty community at the moment as there super affordable and truly great products.
This palette cost me £6, contains 8 different concealer shades and is in the shade Light.

The Tricks of the trade
DSC05871
On the left is the Bleach London Reincarnation Mask, this is a deep treatment mask for dyed and damaged hair. Its got some amazing reviews so I thought I give it a go.

The middle is a new eyelash curler, I refuse to spend a lot of money on these because like most girls loose bobby pins and hair ties I loose eyelash curlers like you wouldn’t believe.
Really cant explain why? Maybe theres an eyelash monster under my bed.

On the Right is the Real Techniques Brush cleansing palette, this is the purchase I am most excited about because I absolutely love all the RT products I own and I’m sure this won’t be an exception! I cant wait to try it and let you know how I get on.

Make Up bits and bobs
DSC05876
Top Left is my favourite pressed powder by Rimmel. Perfectly Translucent and brilliant staying power. Really inexpensive too.

Middle Right is a clear brow gel that if I’m being completely honest, I’m a little nervous about trying. I don’t know why put the idea of a gel for your eyebrows just seems a little bit odd.

Bottom Left is one of the Rimmel Magnif’eyes, this is a new product to me but seems to be everything I’ve been looking for. A cream eyeshadow base with a complimentary liner on the other side. Almost like an eye make up look in a stick.
The shade is Queens of the Bronzed Age.

Hope you guys enjoyed this little Haul,

Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think?

Also, would you like to hear more about any of these in detail?

Fabulous Red Glitter Nails

Hey Internet Friends,

Ive got a week off work and that means one very exciting thing! It means I can do my nails however I want, no neutral colours and trimmed short, its time to be long, glittery and fabulous!

nailstitle

This look is really easy to create if Im being honest once you do the initial false nail prep its simply a few licks of paint.
Here is everything I used to create the ultimate red glittery nail.

DSC05722

In order to prep the false nails I simply take a generic false nail brand and apply it using quick dry nail glue working from the base of the false nail and applying it to my natural nail bed.
When painting false nails your going to want to rough up the surface of the nail using a file, this just allows the polish to sit better and dry faster.

DSC05738

I then get started on the paint, I used three different nail paints for this look.
A Seventeen clear varnish for a base and top coat, a dark purple colour by Barry M and the ultimate glittery polish also by Seventeen.
DSC05731

I started with the clear base coat and then the dark purple. I wanted an intense colour underneath the red glitter so I applied two coats of the dark purple. This colour is a beautiful and rich vampy colour and would work wonderfully on its own.
DSC05753

After this had fully dried I then went over it with this amazing Seventeen Red Glittery polish. The results for this are fantastic! Such a bold effect and exactly what I wanted! I then protected the red glitter with another coat of the clear topcoat. I like to apply two coats of clear top coat to really make it shine beautifully.

Exactly what you need to make you feel a little more special and glamarous on your week off!

Hope you guys enjoyed this little nail post.

What nail colours really make you feel fabulous?!
